Welcome to Well Tread, the Red Wing Shoes podcast, where we go out and talk to real folks about the work they do, how they get it done right, and the legacy that they leave behind.
Ironworkers border on the heroic. They work together in dangerous conditions and always have each other’s backs. In this episode, we follow the Ironworkers of McHugh Construction at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois — the famous home of the Chicago Bulls and Blackhawks. While that hallowed building has seen plenty of dramatic moments, they’re often matched by the stories of the men and women who actually build these iconic structures.
S.B. Foot Tanning Co. is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Red Wing Shoe Company. They are the largest, side-leather tannery in the United States, producing high-quality leathers for use in Red Wing boots as well as other leather goods. In this episode, we will take you through the process of making an unfinished raw hide into a side of high quality finished leather, and meet the people who make it happen along the way.
